จานวีดิทัศน์ (บางทีสะกดว่า videodisc) หมายถึง จานบันทึกที่เก็บได้ทั้งเสียงและภาพ สามารถดึงข้อมูลที่เก็บอยู่ในจานมาแสดงบนจอภาพของคอมพิวเตอร์หรือจอโทรทัศน์ได้
ใช้ตัวย่อว่า VDT (อ่านว่า วีดีที) ซึ่งก็หมายถึงเครื่องปลายทาง ที่มีจอภาพ (monitor) และแผงแป้นอักขระ (keyboard) นั่นเอง
ขบวนปรับภาพแบบวีดิทัศน์ใช้ตัวย่อว่า VGA (อ่านว่า วีจีเอ) หมายถึง มาตรฐานที่กำหนดไว้สำหรับจอภาพสี จอภาพชนิดนี้สามารถแสดงสีได้ถึง 256 สีในเวลาเดียวกัน พัฒนามาจากจอภาพรุ่นเก่า ที่เรียกว่า ซีจีเอ (CGA) และ อีจีเอ (EGA) จอวีจีเอนี้ให้ภาพที่คมชัดกว่า แสดงภาพได้แม่นตรงกว่า ความละเอียด (resolution) ของจอนั้นสามารถกำหนดได้สูงถึง 640 x 480 จุด (pixels) ในปัจจุบัน ยิ่งพัฒนาไปได้ไกลกว่านี้ คือกำหนดความคมชัดได้สูงถึง 1, 024 x 768 จุด เรียกว่า SVGA หรือ super VGA นั่นเอง
หน่วยความจำภาพหมายถึง ส่วนหนึ่งของแรม (RAM) ที่ใช้เก็บข้อมูลต่าง ๆ ที่คอมพิวเตอร์กำลังแสดงผลอยู่บนจอภาพ ปกติ หน่วยความจำส่วนนี้ของพีซีจะใช้เนื้อที่กว่า 640 Kมีความหมายเหมือน video RAMดู RAM ประกอบ
ภาวะภาพหมายถึง ภาวะที่แสดงผลเป็นภาพ มาตรฐานที่กำหนดไว้สำหรับจำนวนสีที่ตัวปรับภาพใช้กับเครื่องไมโครคอมพิวเตอร์ ในปัจจุบันมีด้วยกันทั้งหมด 20 แบบ เรียงกันไปตั้งแต่ 0 - 19 ถ้าเป็นการแสดงผลเฉพาะตัวอักขระอย่างเดียว ก็จะใช้อีกภาวะหนึ่งต่างไปจากการแสดงผลเป็นภาพ นอกจากนั้น การแสดงผลเป็นภาพ ก็ยังแบ่งเป็น การแสดงสีเดียว แสดงหลายสี กับทั้งยังมีการแบ่งแยกในเรื่องของความคมชัด (resolution) ที่แตกต่างกันออกไปอีก
แรมภาพใช้ตัวย่อว่า VRAM (อ่านว่า วีแรม) หมายถึง ส่วนหนึ่งของแรม (RAM) ที่ใช้เก็บภาพต่าง ๆ ที่คอมพิวเตอร์สร้าง แสดงผลออกบนจอภาพได้มีความหมายเหมือน video memory ดู RAM ประกอบ
