การ์ตูน, Example:การ์ตูน (Cartoon) หมายถึง ลายเส้นภาพวาดคน สัตว์ สิ่งของในรูปแบบที่เหมือนหรือมีเค้าโครงที่ใกล้เคียงกับของจริงหรือต่างจากของจริงตามจินตนาการของผู้วาด เพื่อสร้างความตลกขบขัน สื่อความหมาย หรือล้อเลียนสังคม ซึ่งอาจมีลักษณะเกินความจริง เพื่อถ่ายทอดอารมณ์ หรือแสดงแนวคิดต่าง ๆ เพื่อให้เกิดความเข้าใจ การเขียนการ์ตูนที่เขียนในหนังสือในปัจจุบันมีหลายลักษณะ คือ 1. การ์ตูนเป็นตอน (comic strip) คือ การ์ตูนเรื่องที่เสนอออกมาในลักษณะเป็นตอนๆ ตอนละ 2-5 กรอบ ลงในหนังสือพิมพ์ประจำวันติดต่อกันไป 2. หนังสือการ์ตูน (comic book) คือ การ์ตูนเรื่องที่มีความยาวพิมพ์เป็นเล่ม มีเรื่องราวคล้ายละคร นวนิยาย หรือนิทานฯลฯ การ์ตูนที่สร้างขึ้นในรูปหนังสือ เอกสาร หรือสิ่งพิมพ์เพื่อใช้ในการเรียนรู้ของนักเรียน ส่วนมากเป็นรูปภาพชี้นำ ประกอบเป็นสื่อการเรียนรู้สำหรับลักษณะการ์ตูนที่ผูกเป็นเรื่อง ราว ทำให้ผู้อ่านเกิดความรู้สึกคล้อยตาม มีอารมณ์ร่วมในบทบาทของตัวการ์ตูน และเชื่อมโยงสู่ชีวิตของตนเอง จึงจัดอยู่ในการ์ตูนที่มีคุณค่าในการเรียนรู้ ซึ่งทำให้ผู้เรียนสนใจ สำหรับการเลือก หรือเขียนการ์ตูนเพื่อใช้ในการเรียนการสอน ควรจะต้องให้สอดคล้องกับวัย เนื้อหา ระดับชั้นของผู้เรียนและควรคำนึงถึงประโยชน์ที่ผู้เรียนจะได้รับด้วย [บรรณารักษ์และสารสนเทศศาสตร์]
