v. t. [ imp. & p. p. Spliced p. pr. & vb. n. Splicing ] [ D. splitsen, splitten; akin to G. splissen, Sw. splissa, Dan. splisse, and E. split; -- from the dividing or splitting the ends into separate strands. See Split, v. t. ] 1.
