n. [ L., saffron, fr. Gr. kro`kos; cf. Heb. karkōm, Ar. kurkum, Skr. ku&ndot_;kuma. ] 1. (Bot.) A genus of iridaceous plants, with pretty blossoms rising separately from the bulb or corm.
