pyrites

n. [ L., fr. Gr. &unr_;, fr. &unr_; fire. See Pyre. ] (Min.) A name given to a number of metallic minerals, sulphides of iron, copper, cobalt, nickel, and tin, of a white or yellowish color. [ 1913 Webster ]
