Notes in Diplomatic Correspondence
หมายถึง หนังสือหรือจดหมายโต้ตอบทางการทูตระหว่างหัวหน้าคณะผู้แทนทางการทูต (Head of mission) กับรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศที่หัวหน้าคณะผู้ แทนทางการทูตนั้นประจำอยู่ หรือกับหัวหน้าผู้แทนทางการทูตอีกแห่งหนึ่ง หนังสือทางการทูตนี้ อาจใช้สรรพนามบุรุษที่ 1 หรือบุรุษที่ 3 ก็ได้ หนังสือทางการทูตที่ใช้สรรพนามบุรุษที่ 1 มักจะเกี่ยวกับเรื่องที่มีความสำคัญหรือมีความละเอียดอ่อนกว่าหนังสืออีก ชนิดหนึ่ง ที่เรียกว่า Note Verbale หรือต้องการจะแทรกความรู้สึกส่วนตัวลงไปด้วย หนังสือนี้จะส่งจากหัวหน้า หรือผู้รักษาการแทนหัวหน้าคณะผู้แทนทางการทูต ไปยังรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ หรือไปถึงหัวหน้าคณะผู้แทนทางการทูตอื่น ๆ ไม่เหมือนกับ Note Verbale กล่าวคือ หนังสือทางการทูตนี้จะต้องระบุสถานที่ตั้ง รวมทั้งลงชื่อของผู้ส่งด้วยตามปกติ ประโยคขึ้นต้นด้วยประโยคแรกในหนังสือจะใช้ข้อความว่า ?have the honour? นอกจากจะมีถึงอุปทูตซึ่งมีฐานะตำแหน่งต่ำกว่าอัครราชทูต ถ้อยคำลงท้ายของหนังสือทางการทูตจะมีรูปแบบเฉพาะ เช่น?Accept, Excellency (หรือ Sir), ในกรณีที่ผู้รับมีตำแหน่งเป็นอุปทูต (Charge d?
