fecula

n.; pl. feculæ [ L.faecula burnt tartar or salt of tartar, dim. of faex, faecis, sediment, dregs: cf. F. fécule. ] Any pulverulent matter obtained from plants by simply breaking down the texture, washing with water, and subsidence.
