Syn. -- Vicinity; vicinage; proximity. -- Neighborhood, Vicinity. Neighborhood is Anglo-Saxon, and vicinity is Latin. Vicinity does not commonly denote so close a connection as neighborhood. A neighborhood is a more immediately vicinity.
