| Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) | สมาคมประชาชาติแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (อาเซียน), Example: อาเซียนหรือสมาคมประชาชาติแห่งเอเชียตะวันออก เฉียงใต้ (Association of South East Asian Nations) ได้ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2510 เป็นความพยายามร่วมมือกัน เพื่อให้เกิดสันติภาพและความมั่นคงในภูมิภาคในช่วงนั้น ซึ่งเป็นช่วงหลังจากที่สหรัฐอเมริกาพ่ายแพ้ในสงครามอินโดจีนในช่วงแรกของการ ก่อตั้งอาเซียน ความร่วมมือส่วนใหญ่จะเน้นไปทางด้านการเมือง แต่ต่อมาได้หันมาให้ความสนใจทางด้านเศรษฐกิจมากขึ้น โดยได้มีการลงนามในปฏญญาแห่งอาเซียนที่นครบาหลีเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2519 เพื่อกำหนดเป้าหมายและแนวทางความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจ การเมืองและข้อมูลข่าวสาร ใน พ.ศ. 2520 ได้มีการลงนามในความตกลงว่าด้วยการให้สิทธิพิเศษทางการค้าของอาเซียน (ASEAN Preferential Trading Arrangement) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อส่งเสริมการค้าระหว่างประเทศสมาชิกเพื่อนำไปสู่การ พัฒนาเศรษฐกิจในภูมิภาค และ พ.. 2535 ได้มีการลงนามเพื่อจัดตั้งเขตการค้าเสรีอาเซียน (ASEAN Free Trade Area : AFTA) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อขจัดอุปสรรคทางการค้า เพื่อให้ตลาดอาเซียนรวมตัวกันเป็นตลาดใหญ่ตลาดเดียว เพื่อดึงดูดนักลงทุนต่างชาติ ในการนี้ได้มีการลดอัตราภาษีระหว่างกันในสินค้าทุกประเภท โดยใช้หลักอัตราภาษีศุลกากรพิเศษที่เท่ากัน (ดู CEPT) เป็นกลไกหลัก ปัจจุบัน (ปี 2538) ประกอบด้วยสมาชิก 7 ประเทศ ได้แก่ ไทย มาเลเซีย อินโดนีเซีย สิงคโปร์ ฟิลิปปินส์ บรูไน และเวียดนาม [สิ่งแวดล้อม] |
