| Peat Swamp Forest | ป่าพรุ, Example: สังคมพืชป่าไม้ประเภทไม่ผลัดใบ (evergreen) แบบหนึ่ง หรือป่าดงดิบ เกิดในภูมิประเทศที่เป็นพื้นที่ลุ่มต่ำหรือเป็นแอ่งรูปกระทะ ได้รับน้ำจาก น้ำฝนเป็นส่วนใหญ่ ทำให้มีน้ำจืดแช่ขังอยู่ตลอดทั้งปี เมื่อมีซากพืช และอินทรีย์วัตถุต่างๆ ทับถมกันเป็นเวลาช้านาน จึงไม่ค่อนผุสลาย ทำให้เกิดเป็น "พรุ" (peat bog) ขึ้น ดังนั้นจึงมีการสะสมของชั้นอินทรียวัตถุหรือดินอินทรีย์หนามากหรือน้อยอยู่ เหนือชั้นดินแท้ๆ มีพืชพันธุ์ไม้ป่าหลากหลายชนิดขึ้นอยู่อย่างหนาแน่นบนพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำ ดังนั้นป่าพรุจึงเป็นพื้ที่ชุ่มน้ำธรรมดาทีมีความสำคัญทางด้านพฤกษศาสตร์ และการอนุรักษ์สัตว์ป่า เนื่องจากมีสัตว์ที่หายากหรือใกล้จะสูญพันธุ์หลายชนิด ซึ่งปัจจุบันพบเฉพาะในบริเวณป่าพรุ และพื้นที่ใกล้เคียง [สิ่งแวดล้อม] |
