| atherosclerosis | n. [ Gr. &unr_; + -logy. ] (Med.) a form of arteriosclerosis characterized by irregular fatty deposits on the inner surface of large and medium-sized arteries; the deposits are associated with fibrosis and calcification of the inner layer of the arteries.
